About this event

Birthscapes is inviting all parents / caregivers & their little ones (aged 0-1 years) to come along and experience Beyond Birth, the award winning Mindful Early Parenting course for themselves on 14th January at 11am.

You will receive the first session of Beyond Birth absolutely free, and will enjoy 75 minutes where you can connect with others, and take some much needed time for you whilst with baby.

What is Beyond Birth?

Beyond Birth is a Mindful group for you, as a new parent (and your little one), designed to be the weekly tonic that you need to keep your mind in balance.

Each weekly session is designed to ease the transition into parenthood. Think of it as hand-holding across a wobbly bridge into an unknown place, and could do with reassurance and help finding your feet. You (and your partner/husband/mum, etc) will learn skills to calm, soothe, and tune inwards.

You will be guided to explore your identity as a parent (be it first or subsequent babies), and to connect with yourself, your baby and your loved ones. Focusing on your mental well-being, offering virtual support, ideas and questions to build resilience, cope with and accept the challenges, learn to trust in your instincts and reach out for help when required.

The early days of parenthood can be a rollercoaster of emotions leaving many people shocked at how they feel and wishing they’d prepared more. By joining these weekly sessions, you are taking some big steps to doing just that. It takes a little preparation but can be preventative when you need it the most.

Both joyous and tough times in parenthood are very normal, and this group and accompanying guide are designed to help you find your balance on a mental and emotional level (which can and does lead to physical wellbeing too).

These sessions use a combination of mindfulness, relaxation, self-hypnosis, and other psychotherapeutic techniques as a self help toolkit over 6 weekly sessions. Some aspects you may be familiar with, and others not. You don’t need to have heard or tried any of this before now to find it easy to use and simple to apply to life with your new baby.

About Birthscapes:

These sessions are delivered by Katy Williams, founder of Birthscapes.

Katy is a trained Occupational Therapist, mummy to a 3 year old, hypnobirthing & antenatal teacher, Before & Beyond Birth Mindful Wellbeing Practitioner, Birth Trauma Practitioner, Attached at the Heart Positive Parenting Educator, Starting Solids Facilitator, Laughter Yoga Leader, trainee Tree Babies Guide, Grow With Me Mum & Baby Group Facilitator and Mindful Breastfeeding Supporter.

Katy experienced her own difficulties during pregnancy, birth and postpartum which coupled with her training as an Occupational Therapist and new mum led her to create Birthscapes, providing support from conception onwards, with a particular focus upon perinatal wellbeing and supporting with the transition into parenthood.

Katy says: "As a new mum I found that I was going to different groups with my little one, but that I was going to seek connection with other parents. This connection was not always easy as the focus when attending more traditional baby groups was on my little one, and often once the group ended, all the parents left and there was no time to connect.

During the early days of parenting I was desperate for connection to other parents going through the same thing, and I felt extremely alone in the difficulties I was facing without knowing if this was to be expected or not.

Following my own perinatal journey, I wanted to set up a group, drawing on my skills as an Occupational Therapist, mum and perinatal practitioner, to provide new and expectant parents with the holistic support that I wish had been available to me. When I found Sophie Burch's Beyond Birth training, I knew this was the answer and as part of the Beyond Birth Collective, I know that we are making a real difference to parents lives and to their little ones."

We cannot pour from an empty cup. Coming along to Beyond Birth sessions provides you as the parent / caregiver with a safe space to connect with other parents, to learn how to prioritise your own wellbeing in simple and effective ways whilst with your baby, and to decompress each week, being led through wonderful relaxations and self-care activities, ensuring that you are looking after yourself and that you see yourself as a priority.

We hope that you can join us on Friday 14th January via Zoom to experience Beyond Birth yourself.

Please follow the link to book your ticket via Eventbrite.

The remaining five Beyond Birth group sessions will continue from Friday 21st January, priced at £30 where you make a block booking, or otherwise £7 per session when dropping in, to find out more click here.

If you are a new parent, this really could be the thing you need to find that connection and calm, which is so needed with life as it is and as we move through winter.

Nurture yourself as you nurture your baby!

Warmest wishes,

Katy
