Mindful Wellbeing & Positive Birth Preparation

Before Birth is a beautiful addition to the Beyond Birth program by Sophie Burch, aka The Mamma Coach. 

It is a mindful wellbeing program for expectant parents, designed to ease the transition into parenthood and prepare you emotionally as you approach the arrival of your baby. 

Each session has a different wellbeing theme, with the sessions using a combination of mindfulness, relaxation, wellbeing journaling and other therapeutic techniques over the course of 6 weeks.

Attending Before Birth ensures that you take time to slow down, tune inwards and connect with baby in utero, boosting happy hormones and those essential for pregnancy and birth, including endorphins, serotonin and oxytocin (the hormone of love, birth and bonding).

 

All too often, we focus on the "things" when preparing for our baby: the nursery furniture, the car seat, the buggy or carrier and so on... we very rarely spend the same amount of time and effort exploring our own emotions, mindset, expectations, hopes and dreams, nor do we often think of this as being as important to do. Taking care of our wellbeing and exploring our emotions, including sharing our feelings with our loved ones is however of utmost importance in the lead up to becoming parents. 

Sessions include:

  • Introduction

  • Journaling & chat

  • Group discussion (including topics relating to pregnancy, birth and postpartum)

  • Mindfulness

  • Guided relaxations

  • Breathwork

  • Affirmations

  • Gratitude circle

Engaging in mindful and wellbeing practices antenatally has ongoing benefits from pregnancy into the postpartum period.

The more we practice mental and emotional wellbeing, we will experience less stress (cortisol) and in turn our baby will experience less stress in utero, with long-term positive benefits once earth-side. 

By attending Before Birth sessions on a weekly basis you will find that you are more easily able to block out any external noise and instead you'll find that you are  listening to your own internal wisdom ad by coming along to Before Birth group sessions you will start to connect with other expectant parents who may become part of that parenting tribe or village that is so valuable as you journey through parenthood together.

Whatever the stage of your pregnancy and whatever plans you have for your baby's birth, Before Birth is a wonderful addition to your antenatal preparation.

 

Pregnancy

From Friday 28th October I will be running the Before Birth Mindful Wellbeing Group at The Wabi Sabi Studio in the heart of Hexham from 18:45-20:15 over 6 weeks. 

I also provide 1:1 support to new parents, delivering the Before Birth program to you directly, online from the comfort of your home. This may be a preference for many parents in preparation for their baby's birth and can be booked on a standalone basis or alongside my Birth Empowerment or KG Hypnobirthing course.
