Service Description

Nature Babies is a new group for parents / caregivers and their little ones (aged 0-2 years) and is held at Gibside National Trust on Monday afternoons from 3rd July, from 1-2.15pm. Sessions are designed to support exploration of nature with your baby / infant. These are not messy play or baby sensory sessions. Instead we meet, walk, chat, and explore the natural environment around us, slowing down and taking time to connect with baby and ourselves. These sessions are about going slow and connecting with nature. We take this time to remember that we ourselves are nature. There are no expectations, no rights or wrongs, and there is no need to do anything. As humans we are hardwired to respond to the natural environment which is why being outdoors can help our mood, help us cope with life's pressures and make us feel better overall. Babies and young children benefit massively from being outdoors. They may not yet have the words to describe their experiences, but they are learning about their world all of the time. Babies are mesmerised by sounds and movements. There is a multitude of unique colours, lights, sensations and textures to take in and experience when outdoors. From the crunch of leaves to the grass blowing in the breeze. Sessions are open to all parents / caregivers with babes in arms or little ones who have just started exploring on their feet. Sessions will include: Introduction & catch ups Sharing circle Sensory exploration of nature Basic mindfulness techniques Journaling Breathwork Gratitude practice Nature bathing Songs Nature based activities & crafts Over the 4 weeks simple nature crafts will include making: A nature sensory bottle / shaker Nature crowns Nature mandalas Nature mobile Nature sun-catcher Places are limited to 12. Tickets are £35 for 4 weeks including entry into Gibside National Trust Estate. Sessions run from Monday 3rd - 24th July from 1-2.15pm. Single session tickets may be made available at a later date at £10 per session for any places that remain.
