Becoming a parent is a life changing event, whether this is your first baby or subsequent as such,  Birthscapes is with you from conception onwards.

Helping you to prepare for a positive and empowered birth experience (whatever birth you are planning for and however your birth looks like on the day) and providing you with ongoing support as you move forwards on your motherhood journey.

Whether you’re interested in Hypnobirthing, Birth Empowerment or Gentle Caesarean Workshops, Mindful Wellbeing or Postpartum groups, at Birthscapes you will find the support that you need.

As an antenatal, hypnobirthing and trauma release practitioner, many parents seek my support where they may be experiencing trauma-related barriers to conception, or where there have been difficulties in relation to their perinatal journey (including fertility, loss, tokophobia, antenatal, birth or postpartum trauma or difficulties)

I understand the power of nature for our mental and physical wellbeing as mothers and regularly lead mindful wellbeing groups for mums and caregivers in nature, supporting positive connection with our children and with ourselves. So often as mothers we nurture others, at Birthscapes you are guided in turning those nurturing instincts inwards, offering yourself the love, kindness and empathy that you would a dear friend.

About Me

Following my own difficulties during pregnancy, birth and postpartum (including over two years of undiagnosed perinatal mental illness that I battled through myself), I decided that I wanted to draw on my training as an Occupational Therapist and upon my own experiences to provide mothers with a holistic service, supporting their wellbeing and providing much needed connection from conception onwards.

As a hypnobirthing mum who had an unplanned caesarean, I understand how beneficial hypnobirthing can be for all births and wanted to train as a practitioner to bring this knowledge and support to other mums.

As a new mum I found myself longing for connection and I would take my daughter to various baby groups, but my own cup was not being truly filled. I now run Beyond Birth Mindful Early Motherhood, and regular groups online and in person for mothers to support wellbeing and connection.

Having completed trainings as an Occupational Therapist, Laughter Yoga Leader and with Attachment Parenting International on their Attached at the Heart Parenting Educator Program, I have a keen interest in the value of playfulness and joy when it comes to parenting and I know too well that when we are running low, parenting in a conscious and gentle way can be really tough.

You are welcomed to join my in-person groups within the North East for mums, or to come along to my online sessions to get that time for you where you can fill your cup, share and be heard as though motherhood is great at times, it can be really tough too. We are keeping another human alive and tending to their every need and often that means our own needs are overlooked.

By joining my sessions you are guided in turning your own motherly and nurturing instincts inwards, to meet your own needs.

Young Family

I had several sessions with Katy (Birthscapes) as after the birth of my second child I had antenatal depression, with experiences from my first and last pregnancy affecting my mood. Katy was professional and kind with a warm personality which made the sessions easier to settle in to. I found the techniques really calming and it felt it was a safe space to discuss my feelings. I had positive results from the 3 Step Rewind sessions, which gave me a feeling of calm and a sense of closure on my experience. I would highly recommend Katy's services at Birthscapes for anyone suffering from trauma, a difficult pregnancy or birth.

What My Clients Say

"Katy was completely professional as well as warm during my 3 Step Rewind sessions. It was so good to have a safe space and some scheduled sessions for myself to work through some complicated emotions and memories linked to my pregnancy and birth experience.

I had a lot of anxieties and struggles in relationships with my daughter and husband following a premature labour, emergency caesarean and extremely difficult experience of hyperemesis which restricted me from fully engaging in my pregnancy.
I had positive results and am much more accepting of the long-term struggles associated to these experiences now.
Since my sessions I've found it really helpful to use the techniques I learned to help keep me calm in times of increased anxieties, which is common with a headstrong toddler " - Laura
